Frequently Asked Questions

It's my first time having a facial and I'm nervous. What can I expect?

I love first timers! I'll go over your skin concerns and answer any questions you may have. Together, we'll decide which treatment is best suited for you skin. If it happens to be something other than what you've booked, we can easily make adjustments as longs as the timing is the same. I am very transparent with prices so no surprises there either! My goal is for you to feel comfortable, relaxed, and heard from the time you enter my space to the time you leave.

Help! I don't want to book the wrong service. What do I book if I'm not sure what type of skin I have?

If you're unsure after reading the descriptions, feel free to call or text or simply book a treatment for your preferred time. There's no risk of choosing the wrong facial! Your treatments can easily be adjusted if another option is better suited for your skin and concerns.

Is there anything I need to do to prepare for my facial? Anything I should avoid?

YES! I always err on the side of caution and want to be sure your skin's barrier is not compromised the day of your treatment. My recommended time frames may be a tad longer than most, but my goal is to make your skin look amazing, not worse! If your skin appears comprised the day of your treatment, I may reschedule your service for a time that is better suited for your skin's needs.

  1. Avoid botox and fillers for 2 weeks prior to your treatment to ensure we're well inside the safety window.
  2. Avoid prolonged sun exposure so your skin is not sunburned sensitized on the day of your treatment.
  3. Avoid exfoliation including scrubs, all acids, benzoyl peroxide, and especially Retinal/Retin-A/Tretinoin and Glycolic Acid for ONE WEEK  prior to your treatment.
  4. If you've recently had a treatment elsewhere, ask your previous provider about the appropriate recovery time before having a facial. Regardless, please wait 7 days AFTER all peeling or shedding has stopped.

What do I wear? Should I remove my makeup first?

It's always best to arrive barefaced...however, don't stress if this isn't possible. I have makeup wipes available and my products do a fantastic job removing makeup. Just keep in mind, the longer it takes to remove makeup, the less time we'll have for the actual fun stuff!

Why do you ask me to come without perfume or cologne?

Good question! Fragrances on the skin are very difficult to remove. When I'm cleansing your skin, I don't want to unintentionally spread the fragrance oils onto your face. More importantly, synthetic fragrances can linger for hours in a small space and affect both myself and other clients. After years of exposure, I've become extremely sensitive to these chemicals, so I kindly ask everyone to come fragrance free. I maintain a low tox enviroment so that everyone can enjoy the space comfortably. Pure Essential oils are totally fine!

My skin gets red easily and is senstive. Can I still have a facial? Will it make my skin red?

There's a big difference between temporary redness from increased circulation and redness caused by sensitive and reactive skin. If your skin gets red when touched and then quickly subsides without any tingling, burning or itching, that's typically a response to increased circulation. If redness from product/s lasts a day or longer, your skin may be more reactive. I'll take a look at your skin and ask you a few questions to better understand the cause of your redness, then customize your facial to address your concerns while minimizing irritation. In fact, both the Osmosis Facial Infusion and the Exosome Infusion treat redness and sensitive skin, which is why they're a favorite among my sensitive-skin clients!

Will I break-out after the facial?

It's rare, but possible! Skin purging can happen, but NOT always. This isn't a bad thing! Anything brewing under the skin that may have popped out in a day or week from now could come out sooner and seemingly all at once. Facial treatments stimulate circulation which is beneficial and detoxifying. For some the skin is MUCH clearer afterward while others may have more blemishes for a short time before clear skin emerges. If the skin purges, it usually starts 1-3 days after the facial and lasts about a week or so. The result is longer lasting clear skin! Those who experience purging, notice it happens less and less as they become accustomed to getting regular facials. For some, purging may only mean one tiny blemish for others, it could mean a cluster. I guide my clients on how to care for their skin after the facial to minimize the chance of this happening.

What if I'm claustrophobic and don't like my eyes covered?

I'm claustrophobic too so I get it! Just let me know and I'll make adjustments. We don't have to cover your eyes. I can let you know if and when a brighter light is being used. Don't worry about getting blasted with steam... that is a thing of the past and doesn't have a place in any of my services.

I have a hard time lying flat. Does your treatment table adjust? What if I get fidgety?

You be as fidgety as you want! My treatment table is sturdy. It accommodates up to 600 lbs, is 32 inches wide and is able to raise and lower electrically. The head and foot of the table can also raise and lower individually so I'm able to EASILY make adjustments during the treatment at any time. My table is typically set with a sheet set and quilted blanket however if you run warm, I have lightweight sheets that are Terry cloth on one side and cooling microfiber on the other that we can swap out for a lighter option. My space has central A/C, an air purifier, and a fan/heater so I'm well equipped to make your time with me comfortable.

I have a disability. Is your place accessible? Can you accommodate me?

YES! There is an upper parking area with a ramp, elevators and my table can accommodate all.

Are your facials safe during pregnancy and while nursing?

Congratulations on your soon to be bundle of joy! I LOVE treating Mamas as much as Brides. Your body is working hard around the clock to nourish this little human, and this is no easy feat! I understand the monumental changes of the skin and body during this time and I want to help you feel cared for and beautiful. Im happy to say that every service I offer can be modified for pregnancy and nursing! My table also accommodates the ever-changing body during the 9 months of pregnancy.

Im getting married! How far in advance should I have a facial? Which one is best?

First of all, I LOVE doing brides! It's an honor for me to treat you and to be a part of your pre-wedding skin journey. Ideally, we'll start about 6 months before your wedding. Especially if you have specific skin concerns you'd like to work on. If your time or budget doesn't allow, squeezing in at least 2 facials would be helpful! This gives us a chance to see how your skin responds and allows us the time to monitor when it looks its best afterward, so we can time your pre-wedding facial perfectly before your big day. The facial most requested for pre-wedding or event is the Hydrafacial with the lymphatic drainage add-on however, I always listen to client's concerns and recommend which facial would be best suited for you. My goal is to make you look your best and feel confident and beautiful!

How do I care for my skin after the facial? Anything to avoid?

YES! Keeping your skin hydrated, and protecting your skin's barrier is your new priority for the next week!

  1. Avoid direct, heavy sun exposure for 48 hours if possible, and make moisturizer along with SPF your new best friend!
  2. Avoid exfoliation for one week this includes Tretinoin, Retinal/A.
  3. Avoid any stimulating products that normally cause tingling or dryness for one week including vitamin C.
  4. If you didn't have a skincare routine before, this is your chance to start one: Cleanse AM/PM, Moisturize AM/PM and SPF AM.

How often should I get a facial?

It depends on your goals. Everyone has different needs. If you want your skin to more consistently look its best, every 4 weeks is ideal. If you prefer to wait until your skin starts feeling dull, congested or less vibrant, every 5-8 weeks works well. If you're simply looking for a skin reset, every 3 months or with the change of seasons is a great way to stay on track.
